Privacy

Last updated: 26 July 2026

This is a simple holding website. It has no accounts, contact form, analytics or advertising cookies.

Who is responsible

Ged Hughes is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this notice. Lost A Loved One is a service he is developing for England and Wales. For privacy questions, email ged@lostalovedone.co.uk.

Website visits

The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like most web infrastructure, Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, browser details and security events to deliver and protect the site. We do not use this information for advertising or behavioural profiling and do not run a separate analytics service.

Email

If you email us, we will use the information you provide to read and respond to your enquiry and to keep an appropriate record of the correspondence. Please do not send personal, legal, financial or estate documents while the service remains in preparation.

Why we use this information

We rely on legitimate interests to operate and secure this holding website, respond to genuine enquiries and retain a proportionate correspondence record. Those interests are limited to preparing and protecting the service and communicating with people who contact us.

Service providers and international transfers

Cloudflare provides website hosting, security and email routing. Google provides the destination mailbox, and Resend may be used to send email from the Lost A Loved One domain. These providers handle information to provide those services and may process it outside the UK.

Cloudflare and Google state that UK-to-US transfers use the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, with contractual safeguards where required. Resend’s data-processing terms incorporate UK standard contractual clauses through the UK Addendum for transfers not covered by UK adequacy regulations. See the transfer information published by Cloudflare, Google and Resend, or contact us for more information or a copy of the relevant safeguards.

How long we keep information

Lost A Loved One does not keep a separate copy of website request logs or create an analytics profile. Cloudflare states that it keeps personal information only for as long as needed to provide and secure its services or meet legal obligations, taking account of the purpose, volume, nature and sensitivity of the information and the risk of harm. Its privacy policy gives the full retention criteria. We keep enquiry correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed to respond and maintain an appropriate record, normally no longer than 12 months after the last contact unless a legal or safeguarding reason requires longer.

Your rights

You have the right to object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests.

You may also ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion or restriction, subject to the limits in data-protection law. You may raise a privacy concern or ask for more information about these rights by emailing ged@lostalovedone.co.uk. There is no automated decision-making or profiling on this holding website.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data-protection regulator.

This notice will be reviewed and expanded before the service processes case information or opens to the public.
